The Canadian Taxpayers Federation has expressed concern over imminent tax hikes in Alberta, branding them a significant burden for residents amid escalating living costs.
From April 1, Albertans will see carbon and gas taxes rise, adding 13 cents per litre at pumps, with the carbon tax increasing from $65 to $80 per tonne, en route to $170 by 2030.
These tax increases, intended to support vital services, come as Albertans face financial strains, such as increased food bank reliance and wage concerns. Critics highlight how the carbon tax raises costs on goods and heating, emphasizing affordability issues in the province.
