Avril Lavigne Named to the Order of Canada for Music and Philanthropy




Canadian singer Avril Lavigne, renowned for her contributions to pop-punk music and her philanthropy, has been named to the Order of Canada. Lavigne, who launched a foundation to support individuals with Lyme disease and other serious illnesses, joins 82 other distinguished Canadians recognized for their impactful contributions.


Among the honorees are Monique LeRoux, former Desjardins Group president, former Bank of Canada governor Stephen Poloz, magician David Ben, journalists Joyce Napier and Mellissa Fung, and Cree MP Tina Keeper. The Order of Canada, one of the nation’s highest honors, celebrates individuals who have made lasting positive impacts on Canadian society.
