Boeing is investing $240 million with the Quebec government to create an aerospace innovation zone in Montreal. The total project investment is $415 million, with Quebec contributing $85 million.
Announced by Premier François Legault and Economy Minister Pierre Fitzgibbon, the project aims to generate high-paying jobs. Boeing's investment is part of the $330 million from private companies like Pratt & Whitney Canada, Airbus, Bombardier, and Thales Canada.
Despite technical issues with its 737 Max program, Boeing Global President Brendan Nelson praised Montreal's aviation R&D prowess. The innovation zone, Espace Aéro, will be in Montreal’s Saint-Laurent borough, Longueuil, and Mirabel, focusing on research, development, and advanced air mobility. It will be Quebec’s fourth innovation zone.
