Brampton Couple Faces $22K Loss as Tenant Refuses to Vacate



A Brampton couple is grappling with over $22,000 in unpaid rent as their tenant, Hermann Founiapte Dakono, refuses to vacate their home. Yvonne Folkes and her husband rented their principal residence to Dakono for $3,200 a month. While initially a good tenant, Dakono stopped paying rent and utilities in October 2023. 


Despite legal efforts and a scheduled Landlord and Tenant Board hearing on June 4, the family is financially strained, relying on a credit line to cover expenses. Dakono, who runs a trucking company, claims Folkes told him not to pay rent and continues to occupy the home with his family.
