Canada Faces Increased Wildfires and Storms Due to Climate Change, Officials Warn

The federal government has issued a warning about intensified weather events linked to climate change. Environment and Climate Change Canada's new system predicts more frequent and severe wildfires, especially in Western Canada, with activity expected to be above average this September.

Currently, 474 fires are burning across the country, with over 150 deemed out of control. First Nations communities are particularly at risk. Additionally, an above-average hurricane season is anticipated, with the U.S. predicting up to 24 major storms. Emergency Preparedness Minister Harjit Sajjan advises Canadians to prepare for these extreme conditions by updating their emergency plans and property.
