Canada Launches Dental Care Plan for Families with Children Under 18

Starting June 27, families in Canada with children under 18 can access the new Canada Dental Care Plan (CDCP), aimed at easing financial burdens for those without private dental insurance. Initially, the plan covers children under 18 and will expand to seniors over 65 in December 2023. By 2025, all eligible Canadians can benefit. Temporary residents are eligible if they meet specific residency criteria and income thresholds. Coverage is provided by Sun Life, allowing direct billing by dentists from July 8, 2024. The plan aims to assist nine million uninsured Canadians with dental expenses, addressing a significant gap in healthcare coverage.
