Canada Unveils $6 Billion Fund to Kickstart Housing Infrastructure and EcoFriendly Development

The Canadian government unveils a $6 billion "Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund" to expedite home construction and essential infrastructure upgrades, including water and waste systems. Announced by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Housing Minister Sean Fraser in Dartmouth amid protests, this initiative is part of the Liberals' pre-budget commitments. The fund dedicates $1 billion to immediate infrastructure needs and requires municipalities and provinces to adopt measures enhancing housing supply and affordability. Provinces and territories have deadlines by 2025 to secure agreements, with unclaimed funds redirected. Additionally, Trudeau pledged an extra $400 million to the "Housing Accelerator Fund," aiming to facilitate over 750,000 new homes and streamline construction processes.
