Circle K's Parent Company Eyes Global Acquisition of 7-Eleven Owner

The company behind Canada's Circle K stores, Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. (ACT), has made a "confidential, non-binding, and preliminary" proposal to acquire all outstanding shares of Seven & i Holdings, the global owner of 7-Eleven. Seven & i confirmed the approach and has formed a special committee to review the offer.

No decisions have been made yet, with ACT stressing the proposal is friendly and focused on reaching a mutually agreeable transaction. This is not the first time ACT has shown interest in acquiring the Japanese firm, having reportedly approached it in 2020. If successful, ACT would significantly expand its global footprint.
