Judge Orders Google to Open Android App Store After Epic Games’ Legal Victory

A US judge has ordered Google to reform its mobile app business following a jury ruling in favor of Epic Games. Google must now allow Android users to download apps from rival platforms and use alternative in-app payment methods. The injunction, issued by Judge James Donato, is aimed at increasing competition within Google’s Play Store, prohibiting exclusive deals with device makers.

Although Google plans to appeal, the ruling will take effect on November 1. This decision is part of a broader antitrust battle, with Google also facing lawsuits over its search engine dominance and advertising technology market.
