Lawsuit Claims Miley Cyrus' Hit "Flowers" Infringes on Bruno Mars' "When I Was Your Man"

Miley Cyrus is being sued over her 2023 hit "Flowers," with Tempo Music Investments alleging it bears striking similarities to Bruno Mars' 2013 song "When I Was Your Man." The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles, claims "Flowers" duplicates melodic, harmonic, and lyrical elements of Mars' track, especially in its chorus.

Tempo, which owns a portion of Mars' song rights, seeks damages and requests that Cyrus and co-defendants cease distribution and performance of the song. The lawsuit follows "Flowers'" success, which broke Spotify records and won the 2024 Grammy for Record of the Year.
