Listeria Contamination Sparks Recall of Plant-Based Drinks Across Canada

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has recalled 15 plant-based drinks from Silk and Great Value brands due to potential listeria contamination. The affected products, produced by Danone Canada, include various almond, coconut, oat, and cashew beverages in 1.89-litre and 1.75-litre packages with best-before dates up to October 4, 2024.

Listeria symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, fever, and a stiff neck, and it poses a higher risk to those with weakened immune systems. The recall follows a food-borne illness outbreak investigation. Danone Canada is cooperating with the CFIA and investigating the contamination linked to a third-party manufacturer in Ontario.
