Employee information may have been compromised during a cyberattack that shut down London Drugs stores across western Canada, according to the company. An investigation into the April 28 incident, which closed all 79 stores, revealed that some corporate files containing employee information were affected.
"We are currently reviewing the impacted data and cannot yet provide specifics on the nature or extent of the personal information potentially compromised," the company stated in a message to CTV News.
All employees have been informed and are being offered free credit monitoring and identity theft protection for two years. The company has also notified the relevant privacy commissioners. There is no indication that customer information was compromised, but the company will notify affected individuals if that changes in accordance with privacy laws.
While all stores reopened on May 7, customers seeking prescription services may experience delays due to a backlog.
