Major Quake Shakes Taiwan: Nine Fatalities and Over a Thousand Injured

A devastating earthquake, the most powerful to hit Taiwan in 25 years, struck early Wednesday morning, claiming nine lives and injuring over a thousand. Centered off the coast near Hualien County, the tremor caused significant structural damage, with buildings tilting precariously and some collapsing. In Taipei, located 150 kilometers from the epicenter, the impact prompted evacuations, with aftershocks heightening the alarm. Rescue operations are underway in Hualien, with efforts to locate and assist those affected.
