Ontario convenience stores will soon be able to sell fortified wines, such as port and sherry, alongside beer, wine, and canned spirits, CBC Toronto reports. Starting Thursday, stores can offer wines with an alcohol content of up to 18%, the same limit allowed for other wines currently sold.
The government source described the change as "minor," but concerns have been raised about the potential impact on people with alcohol addiction. This follows recent expansions in Ontario's alcohol sales, including allowing grocery stores to sell pre-mixed cocktails and larger beer packs earlier than planned.
