Ontario Government Defends EV Investment Despite Ford's Shift to Gas-Powered Trucks

The Ontario government maintains its substantial investments to attract electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers have not been wasted, despite Ford Motor Company's announcement to produce gas-powered F-Series Super Duty trucks at its Oakville Assembly Complex starting in 2026. Initially planned as a hub for EV manufacturing, Ford's delay in EV production until later this decade has raised concerns.

However, Ontario's Minister of Economic Development, Vic Fedeli, insists the move is a response to high demand for gas trucks and will result in earlier job creation. Unifor, representing Ford workers, welcomed the news, emphasizing job security. Ontario remains committed to its EV strategy.
