Ottawa Food Bank Receives Record-Breaking 210,000-Pound Donation

The Ottawa Food Bank has received its largest donation ever, totaling 210,000 pounds of food, thanks to a collaboration between Khalsa Aid Canada, the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, and grocery supplier Italfoods.

This massive donation, which surpasses the previous record of 182,000 pounds, was facilitated by volunteers and students who formed a human conveyor belt to unload the food.

The donation will provide approximately 420,000 meals, supporting children who rely on school meal programs. Ottawa Food Bank CEO Rachael Wilson and Khalsa Aid regional director Mandeep Singh highlighted the importance of community support in addressing food insecurity.
