Seven Arrested in Toronto in Global Fraud Bust Targeting West African Crime Groups




Toronto police have arrested seven individuals in connection with a global fraud investigation targeting West African organized crime groups. Part of Operation Jackal III, conducted with the assistance of authorities in 21 countries and led by Interpol, the investigation resulted in 300 arrests globally and the identification of an additional 400 suspects. 


Toronto suspects were allegedly involved in stealing business cheques and financial documents from mailboxes to commit identity theft and fraud, linked to groups like Black Axe. The operation, dating back to late 2023, has highlighted the importance of safeguarding personal information and monitoring bank accounts for irregularities.
