Toronto Caribbean Carnival Lights Up Lake Shore Boulevard with Grand Parade

The Toronto Caribbean Carnival's Grand Parade turned Lake Shore Boulevard into a vibrant celebration of Caribbean culture on Saturday. Marking the end of a month-long festival and the 57th annual event, the parade is North America's largest carnival, drawing nearly a million attendees. Mayor Olivia Chow joined revellers in a feathered costume, while Federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh praised the carnival's energy.

Participants, like Amber Wilson and Faith Hilliman-Foster, expressed joy in "playing mas," celebrating Caribbean culture through music, dance, and costumes. The carnival also marks emancipation, celebrating freedom and cultural expression. Road closures will remain in effect until August 4th.
