The World Federation of Advertisers (WFA) announced the suspension of its Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM) initiative following an antitrust lawsuit filed by Elon Musk's X. The lawsuit, filed in Texas, claims that GARM and its members, including Unilever, Mars, CVS, and Ørsted, colluded to withhold advertising revenue from Twitter, now X, after Musk's acquisition.
The WFA denies these allegations and plans to contest the lawsuit. The suspension of GARM, which focuses on establishing standards for brand safety and misinformation, comes amid concerns about resource constraints and ongoing investigations into alleged anti-conservative bias by the House Judiciary Committee.
