Younger Canadians Split on Immigration Levels and Integration Values

A recent Postmedia-Leger poll reveals that Gen Z and millennials in Canada are divided on the country's aggressive immigration targets. While 11% of Canadians aged 18 to 39 view the annual intake of 500,000 new Canadians as overall positive, 34% see it as beneficial but problematic. Concerns about the country's capacity to support newcomers are growing, with 70% of respondents emphasizing the importance of shared Canadian values.

Regional and gender differences also influence opinions, highlighting varied perspectives on immigration's impact on housing, social services, and cultural integration. The poll underscores the nuanced views of younger Canadians on immigration policy.
