Canada's Agriculture Sector Faces Emission Reduction Challenges, Report Finds

A report criticized Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) for lacking "measurable outcomes" in its emission reduction programs, urging better alignment with other government initiatives and improved data strategies. The National Farmers Union's Darrin Qualman highlighted agriculture as Canada's most complex emission challenge, noting the sector's late focus on greenhouse gas reductions. The report calls for urgent action from AAFC to address the diverse emission sources in farming, from fertilizer use to livestock management.
